ABOUT
About this spot
Koiwai Farm, spread out against the majestic backdrop of Mt. Iwate, is Japan's largest private general farm, with a history of more than 130 years. In the tourist area "Makiba-en," there are many activities for both adults and children, including sheep shows, horseback riding, and archery. Its historical value is also high, and the cowsheds, silos, and other structures scattered throughout the grounds are designated National Important Cultural Properties. In particular, the "Koiwai Farm Lone Cherry Tree" is famous as an excellent photo spot, offering a beautiful contrast with snow-capped Mt. Iwate in spring. Don't miss the farm-fresh cuisine as well. The rich soft serve ice cream made with freshly squeezed milk, homemade cheese, and Genghis Khan lamb barbecue made with fresh mutton are must-try delights. It is a representative sightseeing spot of Iwate, ideal for spending a whole day with the family, for solo travelers who want to refresh in nature, and for dates to see the magical illuminations in winter.
