Senami Onsen is a time-honored hot spring area with more than 100 years of history, located on the coast of Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. Its greatest feature is the panoramic view of the Sea of Japan stretching out right in front of the hot spring town. Known as the "town of sunsets," it is especially beautiful in the evening, when the sky and sea turn orange, and you can enjoy the spectacular view from the open-air baths of many accommodations. Free foot baths are scattered around the hot spring town, and they are perfect for a leisurely break in the sea breeze. The source water is extremely hot at about 90 degrees Celsius, and the "egg boiling experience," in which visitors cook hot spring eggs using that heat, is also very popular with tourists. Enjoying a piping hot egg with family or friends is a pleasure unique to Senami. Nearby is Senami Onsen Beach, where you can enjoy different seasonal looks, from swimming in summer to snow-viewing baths while watching the rough waves of the Sea of Japan in winter. With local specialties such as Murakami salmon, local sake, and Murakami beef, it is a place for a blissful time that satisfies both heart and stomach, whether you are traveling solo or with family.
