ABOUT

About this spot

Yahiko Shrine, long revered as the Ichinomiya (chief shrine) of Echigo, is one of Niigata Prefecture's foremost power spots, known for blessings in work fortune and matchmaking. Once you step inside, you are enveloped in a quiet, sacred atmosphere surrounded by giant cedar and zelkova trees hundreds of years old. In particular, the unusual worship style of "two bows, four claps, and one bow" is a precious experience found only here. Mt. Yahiko, which rises behind the shrine, is regarded as the object of worship, and you can head to the summit by ropeway or a driving course. From the top, a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan and the Echigo Plain spreads out, making it perfect for refreshing yourself after worship. In autumn, the "Yahiko Chrysanthemum Festival" is held on the grounds, with gorgeous chrysanthemums adding color. Whether it is a trip with family to touch history, a holiday with friends to recharge your energy, or a quiet time alone to center yourself, this is a place where you can spend a soul-cleansing moment in any situation.
