ABOUT
About this spot
Shiraito Falls, a renowned scenic spot of Shizuoka Prefecture, is an extremely beautiful work of natural art where Mt. Fuji's snowmelt flows down through the gaps in a cliff like countless threads. Spreading 20 meters high and 150 meters wide, the falls have an elegance like white silk threads hanging down. They are a National Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument, and are registered as one of the component assets of the World Cultural Heritage site "Mt. Fuji." Walking paths are maintained right up to the falls basin, letting you feel plenty of negative ions up close. On clear days in particular, you may encounter a magical sight of a rainbow in the spray. The neighboring "Otodome Falls," in contrast to Shiraito Falls, is a majestic waterfall that pours down with a roaring sound, so you can enjoy two different charms at once. The surroundings also offer shops where you can enjoy local cuisine and viewpoints overlooking Mt. Fuji. It is a spot that soothes the heart for people of any generation, whether on a family trip, a date, or a solo refresh. It is especially beautiful in the fresh green and autumn leaf seasons, giving you new emotions no matter how many times you visit.
