ABOUT

About this spot

Yakushi-ji is a renowned temple representing Nara, with a striking complex of vivid vermilion halls. Its beautiful group of buildings, also called "Ryugu-zukuri" (dragon palace style), strongly conveys the atmosphere of the ancient capital the moment you step inside. The greatest highlight is the National Treasure East Pagoda, which conveys the appearance of the temple at its founding. Praised as "frozen music" for the rhythm created by its complex roof structure, its presence conveys the weight of a long history. The graceful form of the National Treasure Yakushi Triad enshrined in the Kondo (Main Hall) also calms the hearts of visitors. The temple is also very famous as a place for copying sutras, and the experience of facing yourself in silence is especially recommended for busy adults. The landscape, in harmony with nature through the seasons, such as cherry blossoms in spring and bush clover in autumn, is beautiful too, and it is a spot where you can feel deep emotion in any situation, whether traveling with friends, strolling alone, or learning history with family.
