ABOUT
About this spot
Lake Motosu in Yamanashi Prefecture is a beautiful lake that is the deepest of the Fuji Five Lakes and boasts overwhelming transparency. It is part of the World Heritage site "Fujisan," and is also very famous as a place (Nakanokura Pass) where you can see the "Upside-Down Fuji" scenery depicted on the back of the 1,000-yen note. It is a perfect spot for those who want to get away from everyday bustle on a weekend holiday. On the lakeshore, activities such as camping, kayaking, and SUP are popular, and you can spend an active time with friends and family. Hiking courses to the surrounding mountains are also plentiful, and Mount Ryugatake is especially known for the "Diamond Fuji" seen around the winter solstice. In recent years it has also attracted attention as a pilgrimage site for a popular camping anime, and more people enjoy solo camping here. The "Fuji Shibazakura Festival" is held nearby in spring, and you can meet scenery with different faces all year round: a summer retreat from the heat, autumn foliage, and views of Mount Fuji in crisp, clear winter air.
