ABOUT
About this spot
The largest of the Fuji Five Lakes by area, Lake Yamanaka sits on a plateau at about 1,000 m. Known as the lake closest to Mt. Fuji, it offers close-up views of the majestic mountain. Its charm lies in the wealth of ways to enjoy it throughout the year. In spring, see colorful flowers together with Mt. Fuji at Hana no Miyako Park; in summer, enjoy camping and water skiing in the cool climate; in winter, the snowy lakeside and smelt fishing on the frozen lake are popular. Especially in the autumn foliage season and when "Diamond Fuji" occurs, with the sun aligning with the summit of Mt. Fuji, many photographers and tourists visit. Cycling roads are well maintained along the lakeshore, and riding a rental bicycle around the lake (about 14 km) in the pleasant breeze is also recommended. Stylish cafes, natural hot spring facilities and museums are scattered nearby, so whether you want to be active or to relax, you are sure to be satisfied. Whether a family trip, a couple's date or a solo refresh, it is a scenic spot where you can spend wonderful time in any setting.
