ABOUT
About this spot
The Takeda Clan Residence is the historic site of the residence (Tsutsujigasaki Yakata) where three generations of the Takeda clan, including Takeda Shingen, lived for about 60 years. Today Takeda Shrine stands on the site and is a leading sightseeing spot in Kofu. It is also famous as a power spot said to bring "luck in winning," thanks to Shingen's strength in battle. On the spacious grounds, the moat, earthen ramparts, and stone walls that evoke the past remain in good condition, and the site is counted among Japan's 100 Famous Castles, a delight for history fans. The adjoining treasure hall displays the Important Cultural Property sword "Yoshioka Ichimonji" and other valuable materials related to the Takeda army, letting you feel the spirit of the Sengoku era firsthand. The seasonal scenery is wonderful too, with rows of cherry trees along the approach in spring and vivid autumn foliage that charm visitors. Why not stroll along Takeda-dori, which runs straight from Kofu Station, and let your thoughts drift to the romance of the Sengoku era? It is a perfect spot for a solo history trip or a weekend family outing.
