ABOUT
About this spot
The Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center is a museum hugely popular with a wide range of generations, not just railway fans, where you can see the superconducting maglev running at an astonishing 500 km/h up close. Inside are an exhibit of the test vehicle that set the world speed record at the time in 2003, and hands-on corners that explain clearly how the maglev levitates and runs. The biggest highlight is watching the maglev run on the outdoor test track from the viewing terrace. The force with which it flashes past you in an instant like the wind is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you can only have here. There is also a corner where you can ride a mini maglev and feel levitated running, and a huge diorama recreating a future Yamanashi after the maglev opens, with plenty of exhibits to captivate everyone from adults to children. As an all-weather indoor facility, you can enjoy it with peace of mind even on rainy days. Come feel Japan's cutting-edge technology and the romance of the vehicles of the future.
