ABOUT
About this spot
Shinagawa Shrine is a historic shrine founded in 1187 by Minamoto no Yoritomo in prayer for safe seas. It is also known as the place Tokugawa Ieyasu visited to pray for victory before the Battle of Sekigahara, and is a renowned shrine counted among the "Tokyo Ten Shrines." Welcoming you at the entrance to the grounds is the rare "Soryu Torii" (Twin Dragon Torii), with dragons carved on the left and right pillars, one of only three in Tokyo. The greatest attraction is the Fuji-zuka known as "Shinagawa Fuji," one of the largest in Tokyo. Made with lava from the actual Mt. Fuji, it can be climbed to the top. From the summit, you can see Keikyu Line trains running below, and a view that helps you forget the urban bustle unfolds. In addition, at Ana Inari Shrine at the back of the grounds there is the "Ichiryumanbai Spring," where washing money is said to bring business prosperity and increased financial luck. It is a power spot recommended for weekend strolls and solo trips seeking better fortune.
