ABOUT
About this spot
Located at the midpoint of the "Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line" crossing Tokyo Bay, Umihotaru Parking Area is a sea-based rest facility unlike any in the world, built on a huge artificial island 650 m long. The five-story facility has souvenir shops lined with Chiba Prefecture specialties, restaurants where you can dine while looking out over the sea, and a food court. From the observation deck on the top floor, on a clear day you can enjoy an overwhelming 360-degree panoramic view including Mt. Fuji, Tokyo Skytree, and airplanes taking off and landing at Haneda Airport. There are also plenty of sights, including a free "foot bath" where you can refresh while feeling the sea breeze and an exhibit of the actual "cutter face" used to bore the undersea tunnel. It is very popular not only as a rest stop on a drive but also as a destination for family trips and a classic night-view date spot. Why not spend an extraordinary moment feeling the breeze of Tokyo Bay?
