ABOUT

About this spot

Arima Onsen is a prestigious hot spring area representing Hyogo Prefecture, counted among Japan's Three Ancient Hot Springs and Three Famous Hot Springs. Its greatest charm is that you can enjoy, in one place, two completely different types of water: the iron-rich, reddish-brown shining "Kinsen" and the clear, colorless "Ginsen," which contains carbonic acid and radium. Step into the hot spring town and you will find atmospheric narrow sloping lanes and retro wooden buildings that evoke the charm of old Japan. Holding the famous "tansan senbei" (carbonated water rice crackers), refreshing yourself at the free foot baths, and visiting historic sites connected to Toyotomi Hideyoshi are pleasures unique to Arima. With excellent access from Kobe and central Osaka, it is supported by a wide range of travelers, from solo day trips to families and anniversary couples who want to spend luxurious time at a high-class ryokan. It is a classic sightseeing spot where you can experience supreme relaxation surrounded by nature through the seasons.
