ABOUT
About this spot
Hanamaki Onsen in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, is a leading hot spring resort in Tohoku that has been loved by many since its opening in 1923. Its greatest appeal is that the vast grounds contain four lodging facilities, "Senshukaku," "Hanamaki," "Momijikan," and "Kashoen," and guests can freely tour the large public baths and open-air baths, each with a different character. There is much to see beyond the hot springs, and the "Hanamaki Onsen Rose Garden," where roses from around the world bloom, is a must-see. It is especially known for the sundial flower bed designed by Kenji Miyazawa, and in early summer and autumn you are wrapped in vivid colors and fragrance. The walking path leading to the nearby "Kamafuchi Falls" is ideal for a stroll bathed in negative ions. In every season, whether spring cherry blossoms, summer deep greens, autumn foliage, or winter snow, nature shows a different face. Dining is also a pleasure, with buffets featuring local cuisine and authentic kaiseki enjoyed in quiet surroundings. It is a spot where you can experience heartwarming hospitality in any situation, from anniversary trips with family and solo trips as a treat for yourself to girls' trips with dear friends.
