ABOUT
About this spot
This expansive cultural park of about 260 hectares was created to commemorate the success of the 1970 Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo). The park's symbol is, above all, the "Tower of the Sun" by the artist Taro Okamoto. Its overwhelming presence greets visitors with the heat and energy of that era. On an interior tour of the tower (reservation required), you can see the "Tree of Life" tracing the evolution of life and immerse yourself in its unique worldview. The park is divided into the "Natural and Cultural Garden," where flowers bloom in every season, and the "Japanese Garden," which distills Japanese landscaping techniques. You can enjoy about 5,500 cherry trees in spring and vivid autumn foliage, and it is ideal for family picnics, dates, or solo strolls on weekends. With the National Museum of Ethnology, pavilions displaying the Expo legacy, and a giant athletic facility, it is a spot where you can enjoy history, culture, and play all day long.
