"La Collina Omihachiman" is a sweets theme park with a landscape that makes you feel as if you have wandered into a fairy tale. The main shop, designed by architect Terunobu Fujimori, has a roof entirely covered in grass, charming visitors with different expressions through the seasons. Scattered across the vast grounds are cafes where you can enjoy freshly baked "baumkuchen," the signature product, as well as "Taneya" for Japanese sweets, a bread shop, and a food court. The freshly baked baumkuchen, with its fluffy texture, is exceptional and a delicacy you can only enjoy here. Beyond enjoying sweets, there are many ways to have fun, such as strolling the corridors while viewing the beautiful satoyama landscape and taking photos with unique objects. Perfect for couples on a date and girls' trips, and also designed to be easy to move around with strollers, it is ideal for family trips with small children. It is a special space that satisfies both heart and stomach, a must-stop during sightseeing in Shiga.
