ABOUT
About this spot
Yamashita Park, a symbol of Yokohama, opened in 1930 as Japan's first seaside urban park. The view created by the blue sea of Yokohama Port spreading before you and the moored NYK Hikawa Maru, an Important Cultural Property of Japan, truly conveys the charm of Yokohama. The park is full of attractions. The "Mirai no Bara Garden," with roses blooming in vivid colors in spring and autumn, is a very popular photo spot. Monuments conveying history and culture are also scattered around, including the famous "Statue of the Girl in Red Shoes" and the "Indian Water Tower," symbolizing exchange with other countries. On weekends it is lively with people spending time as they like, such as family picnics, strolls with friends, and solo trips feeling the sea breeze. From dusk into the night, the lit-up Yokohama Bay Bridge and the Minato Mirai night view are beautiful, and the park is well regarded as a romantic date spot. Admission is free, and it is close to Chinatown and Motomachi, so be sure to drop by during your Yokohama sightseeing.
