ABOUT

About this spot

Surrounded by Hakone's rich nature, The Hakone Open-Air Museum is the perfect place to forget daily life and refresh your sensibilities. In the vast garden of about 70,000 square meters, around 120 masterpieces by great modern and contemporary artists are displayed, and you can encounter art as you stroll. One highlight is the "Picasso Pavilion," which boasts one of the world's leading collections. Through diverse works including ceramics and paintings, you can trace the footsteps of Picasso's creative activity. The "Symphonic Sculpture," a tower fully inlaid with stained glass that you can climb by spiral staircase, is very popular as a stunning photo spot with views of the Hakone mountains from the top. For children, there are plenty of hands-on works such as the "Woods of Net," which you can actually go inside and play in, so families never get bored. When you are tired from walking, we recommend relaxing in the foot bath with free-flowing hot spring water on the grounds. Whether you want to immerse yourself in art alone or enjoy the open space with friends or family, why not come and meet the sculptures that change their look with the seasons?
