ABOUT
About this spot
Spreading along the south side of Kamakura, Yuigahama is a historic beach that has long been loved by many. Its wide sandy shore stretches about 900 meters, with shallow, calm waves, and in summer it comes alive with swimmers and surfers. Colorful beach huts line the shore, and enjoying food and events there is another of its charms. Yuigahama is appealing outside the swimming season, too. It is within walking distance of Yuigahama Station on the Enoden line, and many people stroll the shore with takeout coffee from the stylish cafes nearby. At dusk in particular, the sky and sea turn orange in a spectacular view, making it very popular for dates and girls' trips. It also lies straight down Wakamiya-oji Avenue from Kamakura Station, so it pairs well with a historical walk to sites such as Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Whether you want to refresh yourself alone listening to the waves or enjoy the seaside with a dear friend, this Kamakura landmark welcomes you warmly in any situation.
