ABOUT

About this spot

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, nicknamed "Ra-haku", stands in Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku Ward, Yokohama, and opened on March 6, 1994. It was created with the concept that visitors can taste ramen from all over Japan without boarding a plane, and it is regarded as one of the pioneers of food theme parks built around ramen. The building has three levels. The first floor has exhibits on the history and culture of ramen and a museum shop; the exhibit area was expanded in October 2019, when a workshop for making noodles by hand-beating them with a bamboo pole also opened. The first basement recreates a Showa-era town at sunset with a candy shop and a cafe and snack bar. Most of the ramen shops are on the second basement, where limited-time shops rotate every few months to a year. Long-running Kumamoto shop Komurasaki has been there since opening. Admission is 450 yen for adults, 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students and for high school students (with ID), and free for younger children. Hours are 11:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 10:30 to 21:00 on weekends and holidays; it is closed on December 31 and January 1. The museum is a 5-minute walk from JR Shin-Yokohama Station.
