ABOUT
About this spot
Noboribetsu Onsen, one of Hokkaido's leading hot spring destinations, is known as the "department store of hot springs," with about 10,000 tons of hot water gushing forth every day. Its greatest highlight is Jigokudani (Hell Valley), where white steam rises in billowing clouds. The hot springs and steam spouting from the rugged rock faces are awe-inspiring, and at night the valley is illuminated as the magical "Oni-bi no Michi" (Path of Demon Fire). As you follow the walking trail, you can enjoy a rare "natural foot bath" at the Oyunuma River. Surrounded by primeval forest, with the river itself being a hot spring, it is a luxurious setting that will surely make you forget the fatigue of daily life. The hot spring town is lined with souvenir shops and Enma-do Hall, which enshrines King Enma, and strolling the streets in a yukata is part of the fun. The waters include sulfur springs and salt springs, among many others, and are expected to offer skin-beautifying and relaxing effects. Perfect for a family hot spring trip, a solo getaway as a reward for yourself, or a girls' trip with friends, this is a famous hot spring that you should visit at least once in your life.
