ABOUT
About this spot
The Historical Village of Hokkaido is a vast open-air museum of precious buildings from the Meiji to early Showa periods that have been relocated and restored. The village is divided into four areas, "Town," "Farming Village," "Fishing Village" and "Mountain Village," where you can feel the lives and wisdom of people of the time. One highlight is the main street, where a horse-drawn tram runs in summer and a horse sleigh in winter. The nostalgic scenery is popular as a photo spot, and in recent years it has also drawn attention as a filming location for popular manga and TV dramas. There are also plenty of events that adults and children can enjoy, such as recreations of traditional annual events, demonstrations of straw crafts and experiences of old-fashioned games. Located inside the lush Nopporo Forest Park, you can stroll while enjoying the nature of each season, and it is perfect for refreshing yourself away from daily life. We confidently recommend it for family educational trips, historical outings with friends, and solo travelers who want to quietly experience culture.
