ABOUT

About this spot

The Gozaisho Ropeway carries you up Mt. Gozaisho, one of Mie Prefecture's most famous peaks, on an aerial journey to an elevation of 1,212 m. During the ride of about 15 minutes, you will see a sweeping panorama of Ise Bay and the imposing Pylon No. 6, the tallest in Japan. With luck, you may even spot a wild Japanese serow. The real appeal is the abundant nature you can enjoy all year round. In spring azaleas and cherry blossoms bloom, and in summer it is a cool retreat from the city bustle. In autumn, the foliage changes color in a stunning gradient from the summit down to the foot of the mountain, and in winter a mystical snowy landscape unfolds with enchanting "rime ice" and "frozen waterfalls." The summit area also has an observation restaurant where you can enjoy the local specialty, Gozaisho curry udon, with a spectacular view. Whether on a family trip, a date, or a solo hike to refresh yourself, it delivers a moving experience for any occasion and is a must-see sight when visiting Mie Prefecture.
