ABOUT
About this spot
Ohori Park, one of Fukuoka's leading attractions, is among the best waterside parks in Japan, built using the former outer moat of Fukuoka Castle. A huge pond spreads at the center of the park, and you can enjoy the atmospheric view of three islands linked by bridges. The roughly 2 km loop around the pond is ideal for jogging and walking, letting you refresh at your own pace while feeling the pleasant breeze. If visiting with friends or family, the famous boating and a stroll through the charming "Japanese Garden" are recommended. The park also has stylish cafes and restaurants, with an art museum next door, so after being active you can enjoy a luxurious holiday, such as tea time while looking out over the water. Seasonal events are also a draw: cherry blossoms in spring, fireworks in summer and illuminations in winter. Though right in the middle of the city, this is a soothing space where nature feels close, suited to every occasion from quiet time alone to a date with someone special.
