ABOUT
About this spot
Fukuoka Tower is Japan's tallest seaside tower at 234 meters, built to coincide with the 1989 Asia-Pacific Exposition. Its equilateral triangle exterior, covered in 8,000 half-mirror panels, is affectionately known as the "Mirror Sail" for its sparkle. From the top-floor observation room, 123 meters above ground, you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama that includes Fukuoka's cityscape, the vast Hakata Bay to the north, and the lush Sefuri Mountains to the south. The view from dusk into night is especially spectacular, with city lights spreading out as if studded with jewels, and it has been selected as one of Japan's "100 Best Night Views." The observation floor is also certified as a "Sanctuary of Lovers," with a heart-shaped monument and a place where two people can attach a padlock (key of love) to a fence, making it ideal for dates. The nighttime illumination, whose design changes with the seasons, is a feature of Fukuoka's nights. Why not make wonderful memories with the tower in the background, which changes its look for occasions such as Christmas and Tanabata? From families to couples and solo travelers, a special experience awaits where you can take in the charm of Fukuoka at a glance.
