ABOUT

About this spot

Located in the Uozaki district of Kobe, the Kikumasamune Sake Brewing Museum lets you experience the history of a long-established brewery with more than 350 years of history. The museum displays a vast collection of "Nada sake brewing tools," designated as a nationally Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property, giving you a close look at the history of the craftsmen's handwork. Of particular note is the explanation of the traditional "kimoto" brewing method that Kikumasamune has continued to uphold. Learning why the brewery keeps to the old-fashioned method in this age of mechanization will deepen your appreciation of the flavor of sake. After the tour, enjoy the bright tasting corner, with seasonal unpasteurized sake available only here, special brewery sweets, and snacks. With free admission and the chance to enjoy history, culture, and flavor all at once, it is recommended for a wide range of visitors, from solo travelers to friends and families.
