ABOUT

About this spot

Located in the Saitama Shintoshin area, the Mint Saitama Museum is an interactive spot where you can learn about the history of money and the latest manufacturing technology at the same time. Inside, you can view valuable exhibits unique to the Mint, free of charge, ranging from Edo-period koban gold coins and old coins to beautiful modern commemorative coins, as well as medals and Olympic medals. Popular among all ages are the corner where you can feel the weight of 400 kg gold and silver ingots and the area where you can experience the weight of a "senryobako" treasure chest. The corridor where you can look through glass at the adjacent factory's production line also lets you witness the powerful process of coins being made one after another by the latest machines. You can gain a new appreciation for the value of the money we use without a second thought and the meticulous anti-counterfeiting technology, making it highly recommended for families as well as solo visitors who want to learn at their own pace and seniors. As an indoor facility, it is comfortable even on rainy days, so please feel free to drop in.
