ABOUT
About this spot
Located in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, The Railway Museum, affectionately known as "Teppaku," is one of Japan's leading railway theme parks. Its vast exhibition space displays 36 real vehicles, from steam locomotives to Shinkansen bullet trains, that supported Japan's development, and the depth of history and sheer presence are overwhelming. Highlights include one of Japan's largest "railway dioramas," intricately built, and the "driving simulators" that use real driver's cabs. The simulators are so realistic that adults get absorbed too. The "Mini Train" that runs outdoors is also hugely popular, letting even small children feel like train drivers. Inside there is a space to enjoy ekiben (station lunch boxes) and a restaurant where you can dine while watching the tracks, so you can spend the whole day without getting bored. As a fully indoor facility, it is unaffected by the weather and is ideal for dates, family trips, or solo hobby time. It is a special place where you can feel the evolution of railways firsthand and experience both nostalgia and excitement.
