ABOUT

About this spot

Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, is an ancient shrine said to have a history of over 2,400 years and is the head shrine of all Hikawa shrines across Japan. The moment you step inside, you are enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere that makes you forget the bustle of the city. The top attraction is the "Hikawa Sando" approach, which runs about 2 km from the first torii to the grounds. Among the longest tree-lined approaches in Japan, it is lined with giant trees, mainly zelkova, and you can stroll it while enjoying beautiful scenery in every season. On weekends, it is an ideal course for a leisurely walk with family or friends. The grounds hold many photo spots and power spots, including the beautiful vermilion-lacquered tower gate and Munakata Shrine floating on the sacred pond. Around Hebi-no-Ike (Snake Pond) and the sacred pond in particular, pure water flows, giving a sense of being cleansed in spirit. The adjacent Omiya Park also has a zoo and open spaces, so you can combine them after your visit. Whether you ponder history alone or visit with a loved one to receive good fortune, why not spend a special, healing moment at this place cherished as the guardian of Musashi Province?
