A leading Okinawa attraction, famous for the whale sharks and manta rays swimming in one of the world's largest tanks, "Kuroshio Sea."

ABOUT

About this spot

The "Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium" enjoys overwhelming popularity as a highlight of Okinawa sightseeing. Located in the vast Ocean Expo Park, it unfolds a dynamic world as if it had cut out the Okinawan sea just as it is. The main attraction is the giant tank "Kuroshio Sea," with a capacity of 7,500 cubic meters. The sight of whale sharks over 8 meters long and the manta rays, which were bred successfully for the first time in the world, gliding leisurely is truly spectacular, and it feels like diving into the deep sea. In the "Coral Sea," bathed in sunlight, about 440 coral colonies are kept, letting you observe Okinawa's rich ecosystem up close. There are also the outdoor dolphin show at "Okichan Theater," a Sea Turtle Pavilion, and a Manatee Pavilion, making it a facility that can be enjoyed all day by all ages, from family trips to dates to solo travel.
