ABOUT
About this spot
Okayama Korakuen, one of Japan's Three Great Gardens. Why not spend a weekend in this vast daimyo garden that conveys the charm of the Edo period? The grounds are a "strolling garden" where the scenery changes with every step. Especially unusual is its open landscape of spacious lawns, rare in Japanese gardens. You can stroll feeling the pleasant breeze, forgetting the bustle of the city. There are plenty of seasonal highlights as well. With cherry blossoms in spring, lotus in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and plum blossoms and snowscapes in winter, you will make new discoveries whenever you visit. The limited-time special night opening, "Genso Teien" (Fantasy Garden), unfolds an illuminated, fantastical scene and is also very popular as a date spot. The contrast with the neighboring Okayama Castle (Ujo, the "Crow Castle") is also splendid, offering a luxurious time steeped in history. It is ideal for a family picnic, photos with friends, or quiet time alone with your thoughts.
