ABOUT

About this spot

Ushimado Olive Garden in Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, is a scenic spot overlooking the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea and truly lives up to its nickname, the "Aegean Sea of Japan." About 2,000 olive trees are cultivated across its vast 10-hectare grounds, where you can feel rich nature and a refreshing sea breeze throughout the seasons. In the garden stands the "Bell of Happiness," said to bring happiness if rung three times, which is a popular photo spot for couples and families. The observation deck at the summit offers a 360-degree panorama, and on clear days you can see all the way to Shodoshima and the distant Shikoku mountains. The shop sells original olive oil and cosmetics available only here, as well as the popular olive soft serve ice cream, making it perfect for a girls' trip or a weekend drive. Whether you quietly gaze at the view alone or stroll with your family, it is a place to forget the bustle of daily life and relax. Free admission is another welcome bonus.
