ABOUT
About this spot
Ikeda Zoo, one of the largest zoos in Okayama Prefecture, is characterized by a unique layout built on the slope of Mt. Kyoyama. Since opening in 1953, this zoo, loved by the community, has had a nostalgic "Showa retro" atmosphere where adults and children alike can spend a relaxed time. A wide variety of animals live in the park, including white lions, reticulated giraffes, and adorable red pandas. The greatest charm is how close you can get to the animals. With plenty of feeding experiences and interactive events, you can feel the animals' breath up close. The paths, which make use of the mountain terrain, give a bit of a hiking feel, and plants and flowers of each season add color. It is a perfect spot for family leisure, a relaxed solo stroll, or taking photos with friends. With good access from central Okayama, it is recommended as a place to casually experience an escape from the ordinary.
