ABOUT

About this spot

Sumida Aquarium, in Tokyo Skytree Town(R), is an urban aquarium with the charm of sophisticated spatial design. The biggest highlight inside is one of Japan's largest indoor open-air pools. You can observe Magellanic penguins and South American fur seals so closely that you can feel their breath, and enjoy the dynamic movements of the animals. The 7-meter-long 'Big Petri Dish' tank offers an immersive experience, as if drifting through a world of jellyfish spread beneath your feet. In addition, 'Edo-rium,' Japan's largest-class goldfish exhibit area, presents an enchanting scene of colorful goldfish dancing and swimming, with Japanese-style staging reminiscent of an Edo summer festival. There is also a cafe inside, where you can spend luxurious time gazing slowly at the tanks with original sweets and drinks in hand. It is an urban oasis perfect for after work, weekend dates, and family trips with children.
