ABOUT
About this spot
Hoshitoge Terraced Rice Fields in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, captivate many photographers and tourists as one of Japan's finest terrace views. The sight of about 200 terraced fields layered across the slope, as beautiful as fish scales, evokes Japan's original landscape. The most recommended time is the "mirror water" season (spring and autumn), when the paddies are filled with water. In the early morning, a sea of clouds often forms, and the scene of the water surface glowing orange in the morning sun together with the mist is breathtakingly beautiful. In winter, everything is covered in deep snow, and you can enjoy a monochrome world wrapped in silence. This is farmland that local farmers carefully protect, before it is a tourist spot. Please respect the manners, such as taking your trash home and staying out of restricted areas. It is a spot we can wholeheartedly recommend, whether for time alone with yourself on a solo trip or for making memories with someone special.
