ABOUT

About this spot

The "Garden of Monet" Marmottan in Kitagawa Village, Kochi, is a faithful recreation of the garden in Giverny, France, loved by the Impressionist master Claude Monet. It is known as a special garden officially permitted to use that name outside France, the only one. The grounds consist of three different gardens: the "Water Garden," reminiscent of Monet's masterpieces; the "Flower Garden," where seasonal flowers bloom in vibrant colors; and the "Garden of Boridgera," inspired by Mediterranean scenery. Each visit shows a different face. The "blue water lilies," which cannot be seen in the original garden in France, bloom from late June to late October and are a must-see. There is also a cafe serving local seasonal ingredients and a shop with Monet-related goods. It is recommended for everyone who wants to forget daily life and be soothed by painting-like scenery, whether on a weekend family trip, a date with someone special, or a solo trip as a treat for yourself.
