ABOUT

About this spot

When thinking of Kochi sightseeing, "Katsurahama" is the first name to come up. The beautiful bow-shaped coastline overlooking the Pacific Ocean has long been known as a famous moon-viewing spot and is sung of in the Kochi folk song "Yosakoi Bushi." The top highlight of the park is the giant statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, standing as if gazing at the sea. The heroic figure of the Bakumatsu hero lets visitors feel the pulse of the era. The Katsurahama Aquarium and the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum are also nearby, so families, couples, and solo travelers can enjoy the whole day. Strolling the seaside promenade lets you enjoy the superb view created by green pines, white sand, and the deep blue Pacific. At "Katsurahama Umi no Terrace," a commercial area renewed in 2023, local food and souvenir shopping are also abundant. Condensing Kochi's history, nature, and cuisine, it is truly the "face of Tosa" that you should visit at least once.
