ABOUT

About this spot

Ashizuri Misaki Lighthouse, standing on Cape Ashizuri at the southernmost tip of Kochi Prefecture, is a landmark of Shikoku with a beautiful white exterior about 18 meters tall. It sits atop a sheer cliff 80 meters high, and the Pacific panorama seen from the observation deck is stunning. The horizon drawing a gentle arc truly makes you realize the Earth is round. Around the lighthouse, a walking path of about 2 km runs, and from winter to spring you can walk through a magnificent tunnel of Japanese camellia. A stroll to visit the Seven Wonders of Ashizuri, associated with Kobo Daishi, is also popular and lets you feel the mysteries of nature. It is a classic sightseeing spot where you can enjoy the views alone listening quietly to the waves, or take open, airy photos with family and friends. After your walk, relaxing your travel-weary feet at the nearby Manjiro Foot Bath while gazing at the Pacific is also recommended.
