The Niyodo River, known as a "miraculous clear stream," is a famous Kochi river with some of the best water quality in Japan. The top highlight is the "Niyodo Blue," which shines like a jewel in the sunlight. The fantastical blue seen especially at "Nikobuchi" and "Yasui Gorge" is beautiful enough to captivate anyone. Along the river, "chinka-bashi" submersible bridges designed to sink during floods are dotted around, conveying a feeling unique to Kochi along with the pastoral satoyama scenery. For active fun, canoeing and SUP are recommended, giving the sensation of floating on remarkably clear water. You can also camp or take a leisurely river cruise on a yakata-bune, letting friends, families, and solo travelers have a fulfilling time.
