ABOUT

About this spot

"Nishiyama Park" in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, is one of the best leisure spots in Fukui, where you can enjoy nature through the changing seasons. Its highlight is the roughly 50,000 azalea plants that vividly color the entire hillside every year in early May, a sight that captivates many visitors. The park shows rich expressions throughout the year, with about 1,000 cherry trees in spring, blazing autumn foliage, and beautiful snowscapes in winter. Within the park is Nishiyama Zoo, nationally famous for breeding red pandas, and admission is free. Spending time with the adorable red pandas and squirrel monkeys is ideal for families and dates. There are also the "Panda Land" with its large play equipment, an observation deck overlooking the city, and a Japanese garden, so everyone from children to seniors can enjoy a full day. Recommended for weekend strolls, refreshing breaks, and capturing photos that shine on social media, it is a landmark representing Sabae.
