ABOUT

About this spot

Standing in the port town of Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, the Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse is a historic building constructed in 1905 (Meiji 38) as an oil storage depot. It is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property, and its charming red brick walls make it a very popular photo spot. The interior is divided into the "Diorama Hall" and the "Restaurant Hall." Of particular note is the huge "Railway and Port Diorama." It meticulously recreates the streets of Tsuruga from the Meiji era to the early Showa era, when the city was called the "Le Havre of the East," and the model trains running through it are so impressive that adults and children alike are captivated. In the Restaurant Hall, you can enjoy seafood dishes, Italian cuisine, and sweets made with local ingredients, ideal for lunch with family and friends or a date with someone special. Why not spend a relaxed time feeling the sea breeze in a special space where the weight of history blends with a modern atmosphere?
