ABOUT

About this spot

Located in Tsuruga City, Fukui, Kehi no Matsubara is a Place of Scenic Beauty designated by the nation and counted among Japan's Three Great Pine Groves, alongside Miho no Matsubara in Shizuoka and Niji no Matsubara in Saga. Over its vast grounds, red pines and black pines grow together, with about 17,000 trees continuing for roughly 1.5 km. It has a long history and is said to have once been sacred land of Kehi Jingu Shrine. Beautiful in every season, the vivid contrast between white sand, clear blue sea and brilliant green pines is a sight worth seeing. It is ideal for a weekend stroll or a refresher. With well-kept walking paths, you can enjoy leisurely walking or jogging in the sea breeze. In summer it opens as a swimming beach crowded with families and young people. At dusk, the setting sun over the sea turns the pine forest red for a very romantic atmosphere, making it a popular photo spot. Why not forget the bustle of daily life and spend a relaxed time in this place where history and nature are in harmony?
