ABOUT

About this spot

Nagashino Castle in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, was the site of the historically renowned Battle of Nagashino, in which the Oda-Tokugawa allied forces clashed with the Takeda army. This siege, fought in 1575, is said to be a turning point of the Warring States period, and it is now carefully preserved as a National Historic Site. The castle's greatest highlight is its well-preserved earthworks and dry moats. You can walk through and experience firsthand the strategic terrain that made use of the natural cliffs at the confluence of the Toyokawa and Unegawa rivers. The "Nagashino Castle Historical Museum" within the castle grounds displays screens depicting the battle, precious weapons and armor, and historical materials, making it ideal for deepening your knowledge of history. The anecdote of Torii Suneemon, the loyal warrior who ran through enemy lines to save the besieged castle, is extremely famous, and tracing his footsteps is irresistible for history fans. The cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall are also beautiful, making it a popular walking course. It is a spot recommended for adults who want to enjoy the quiet flow of time while feeling the breath of history.
