ABOUT

About this spot

SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, is a hands-on facility where you can experience the evolution and history of railways with all five senses. The museum displays 39 real rolling stock exhibits on an impressive scale, from steam locomotives and generations of Tokaido Shinkansen trains to the superconducting maglev that will carry the future. Don't miss the railway diorama, one of the largest in Japan. The scenery along the Tokaido Shinkansen is recreated in fine detail, and the presentation depicting the passing of 24 hours is so well done that even adults lose track of time watching it. There are also simulators (paid, first come first served) that let you experience the work of a driver or conductor for real, giving you a deeper understanding of how railways work. Ekiben and other boxed meals are available inside the museum, so you can enjoy a meal with a traveler's spirit while gazing at the exhibited trains. As a barrier-free indoor facility, it is comfortable for all generations, from families and friends to solo visitors who want to immerse themselves in railway culture at their own pace.
