ABOUT

About this spot

Rising right in front of JR Kyoto Station, "Kyoto Tower" is a one-of-a-kind landmark built in the image of a lighthouse illuminating the ancient capital of Kyoto. From the observation deck 100 meters above ground, a 360-degree panorama unfolds, taking in famous temples and shrines such as Higashi Honganji, Kiyomizu-dera, and To-ji, and even the direction of Osaka on clear days. At night, you can enjoy the fantastical night view of the illuminated city, so it is also very popular as a date spot. "Kyoto Tower Sando" at the foot of the tower is a complex ideal for souvenir shopping and dining. In the basement food hall you can casually enjoy the flavors of well-known local restaurants, and on the 1st floor you can find refined Kyoto souvenirs. The 2nd floor also has a traditional craft workshop floor, including Japanese confectionery making, perfect for stopping by between sightseeing. Whether you are quietly gazing at the view alone or enjoying shopping and meals with family and friends, please visit as the starting point of your Kyoto sightseeing or as a way to conclude your trip.
