ABOUT
About this spot
Located in Umekoji Park, close to Kyoto Station, the Kyoto Aquarium is Japan's first large inland aquarium to use artificial seawater. The main attraction is the giant salamander, a Special National Natural Monument that lives in Kyoto's rivers. The exhibit lets you observe its humorous form up close and is powerfully impressive. In 'Kurage Wonder,' where you can enjoy jellyfish in a 360-degree panorama, you can spend healing time in an enchanting space. The dolphin performance, held in an open stadium against the backdrop of Kyoto's mountains, is also a must-see. Inside is a cafe selling cute breads modeled on animals, ideal for families, dates and refreshing time alone. As a sightseeing spot you can enjoy even on rainy days, it is recommended for a wide range of ages. Be sure to come experience the connection between Kyoto's nature and water.
