ABOUT

About this spot

Completed over three years by Takeo lord Nabeshima Shigeyoshi, this historic 150,000-tsubo garden unfolds against the sheer cliffs of Mt. Mifune. In spring, 2,000 cherry trees and 200,000 azaleas burst into bloom, and in autumn, one of Japan's largest autumn-foliage illuminations casts a dreamlike glow across the lake surface. Breathtaking scenery awaits in every season, and that is its greatest appeal. In recent years, collaborations with the world-renowned art collective teamLab have been held every year. The mystical spaces where nature and digital technology merge are enormously popular as photo spots for social media. The light art that rises from the garden at night transports visitors to another world, far removed from everyday life. The hotel's adjoining sauna, "Rakan no Yu," is also revered by sauna fans across Japan as a mecca, making it a perfect place to refresh after a stroll. Whether you are on a girls' trip with friends, on a date, or treating yourself to a quiet solo escape to feel nature breathe, it is a wonderful choice. With history, art and healing blended to perfection, this is an absolute must-see in Saga.
