ABOUT

About this spot

Arita Porcelain Park, in Arita, Saga Prefecture, is a theme park whose symbol is a gorgeous Baroque building modeled on the Zwinger Palace in Dresden, Germany, from the 18th century. The moment you step inside, you are greeted by an extraordinary world, as if you had wandered into medieval Europe. The vast grounds include a beautifully maintained Baroque garden, which is hugely popular as a photo spot for social media. The exhibition facility inside the palace is currently closed, but you can see its magnificent exterior up close. The popular Arita-yaki workshop offers pottery experiences such as hand-building, the potter's wheel, and underglaze painting, where everyone from adults to children can become absorbed in making their own original work. The souvenir shop also carries a wide selection of Arita-yaki tableware as well as delicious sake from local breweries. Admission is free, so it is a pleasure to casually enjoy strolling, shopping, and dining. Whether with family, on a girls' trip, or solo, it is a classic Saga sightseeing spot where you can spend a relaxed and elegant time.
