ABOUT

About this spot

Yoshinogari Historical Park is a national park boasting one of the largest scales of any Yayoi-period archaeological site in Japan. Within the vast grounds, pit dwellings and raised-floor storehouses that tell of life at the time, along with a huge ceremonial hall and watchtowers symbolizing the authority of the kings, have been faithfully restored. Beyond seeing authentic remains at the "Northern Burial Mound," a delight for history fans, families love the large athletic equipment and bouncy dome at the "Asobi no Hara" play area, which adults and children can enjoy all day. It also has a rich lineup of hands-on programs such as fire-starting and making magatama beads, so you can experience the history you learned in textbooks with all five senses. Various events are held on weekends, and you can also have commemorative photos taken in clothing modeled on the costumes of the time. Relaxing on the wide lawn is also recommended. Why not spend a leisurely time letting your thoughts drift to the romance of ancient times?
