ABOUT
About this spot
The Teshima Art Museum, on a small hill on Teshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture, is an art space unlike any other, in perfect harmony with the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Inside the white concrete-shell dome with no columns are two large openings, through which light, wind, rain, and the sounds of insects and birds pour directly in. Looking down at the floor, you can view "Matrix" by Rei Naito, in which small drops of water continually well up from all over the floor, join together, and flow like living creatures. Simply watching the ever-changing expressions of nature and the movement of the water drops makes you forget the busyness of daily life and feel as if you are in deep meditation. Around the museum, beautiful terraced rice fields restored together with local residents spread out, and just walking along the paths is soothing. Inside the museum, take off your shoes, sit back, or even lie down, and spend a luxurious time in your own way. We recommend it as a treat for yourself on a solo trip or as a memorable trip with a dear friend.
