ABOUT

About this spot

Oboke Gorge in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, is a V-shaped gorge created over more than 200 million years by the rapids of the Yoshino River. The sheer crystalline schist cliffs that stretch along it are truly a work of art created by nature. Its beauty has led to its designation as a National Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The main attraction is the Oboke Gorge Sightseeing Boat, which you enjoy with a boatman's guide. The power of the strange rocks seen from the water's surface is overwhelming, and the contrast with the emerald green river captivates. The gorge shows a different face each time you visit: fresh green and rock azaleas in spring, blazing foliage in autumn, and a silent snowy landscape in winter. The surrounding area is well equipped with roadside stations and hot spring facilities, making it a perfect spot for friends, families, or when you want to feel the energy of nature alone. Why not forget everyday life and give yourself over to a grand story of nature?
